VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Close to 100 people took part in a "Justice for Coronel" vigil Thursday.

The vigil was for 24-year-old Jonathon Coronel, who was shot and killed by a deputy in July of 2017.  The vigil was held at the corner on the Plymouth Drive and Knoll Road, the neighborhood where he was shot.

"He's not there to raise his daughter. He's not there on holidays," His cousin, Rocio, said.  He's not there anymore, so it's been a very, difficult time."

Family, friends and civil rights activists were present. The evening focused on the type of man and father Coronel was.

The deputy that shot Coronel was cleared of any wrongdoing, but the family has always maintained Coronel was murdered and has continued to seek justice for him.
