SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A couple and their newborn baby reunited with the firefighters who helped deliver the boy in the family's car last month.
On June 12, at about 9:30 p.m., Tom and Sydney Judge were on their way to the hospital when Sydney asked her husband to pull over because she was on the verge of giving birth.
Tom called 911 to inform dispatchers he had pulled over to prepare for the birth, and San Diego Fire-Rescue crews met the Judges in a commercial area at Oberlin Drive and Scranton Road in Sorrento Valley.
Moments after crews arrived, baby Heston was delivered in the back seat of the car. Mom and baby were then taken to Sharp Mary Birch Hospital via ambulance.
SDFRD Chief Brian Fennessy said, "I am very proud of the crew who kept the Judges calm and helped deliver their boy, Heston. We don't often deliver babies in the backs of cars but out crews are trained and prepared for just about anything."
Later today this family will visit and thank the firefighters & paramedics who delivered their baby in a car! pic.twitter.com/pf3RQoJ76h
