Meanwhile, UC San Diego announced that only ten students tested positive for COVID-19 out of the 5,730 that moved into on-campus housing over ten days.

“I think they have a very strong plan in place at UCSD for their students,” said Dr. Eric McDonald, the medical director for the County Epidemiology and Immunization Branch.

The students that tested positive were moved into isolation housing provided by the university. They can move back into general campus housing when they are no longer infectious.

The school launched a dashboard on its website to show the current number of positive cases for staff and students both on and off-campus.

Students on campus will be tested for COVID-19 twice a month through the school year.
