SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- California Gov. Gavin Newsom is warning families not to plan for their students to return to school before the summer due to the coronavirus.
"This is a very sobering thing to say," Newsom said, "I don't want to mislead you."
Newsom also said he told his daughter Monday, "'Honey, I don't think the schools are going to open again."

Newsom's remarks come after the state's drastic steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including a shelter-in-place order for at least six Bay Area counties.
The governor later said he hoped he was wrong "but I believe that to be the case."
