OTAY MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers investigated a woman with two purses and a man with a trailer last weekend at the Otay Mesa and San Ysidro border crossings.
CBP officers inspected a 2008 Freightliner with a trailer on Friday, July 21.
An intensive check showed large wrapped packages of marijuana hidden in empty battery cases, according to CBP spokeswoman Angelica De Cima.
CBP placed an immigration hold on the man, a Mexican citizen, to remove him from the U.S. at the end of criminal proceedings.
Also on Friday, a CBP officer in San Ysidro searched the Nissan Altima of a 40-year-old U.S. citizen.
The officer found envelopes full of money and two purses in the vehicle, according to the CBP.
In all, the woman had $41,300 in unreported currency, said De Cima. The woman's SENTRI membership was revoked.
