CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Firefighters were able to knock down a small brush fire that ignited in an Otay Mesa riverbed Thursday night.
The fire broke out before 10:30 p.m. in a canyon between Beyer Boulevard and Beyer Way, south of Main Street.
It took San Diego Fire-Rescue crews several hours to knock down the blaze due to the rugged terrain. Firefighters had to drop their water hoses down an embankment to reach the flames. They were still mopping up as of early Friday morning.
No structures were damaged. The cause is under investigation.
