Border Patrol arrests nine aboard boat in San Diego's Mission Bay

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Border Patrol agents Saturday arrested nine people found onboard a boat in Mission Bay believed to have been trying to enter the United States illegally.

According to agents, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Border Patrol days they received a call from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife about a vessel hey believed was suspicious in the Dana Basin area of Mission Bay.

Officers with the department intercepted the vessel when they said several people tried to hide their faces.

After arriving on scene, Border Patrol agents found eight men and one woman who were all Mexican nationals and were unauthorized to enter into the US.

One of those aboard is believed to be a smuggler and will face smuggling charges. All the suspects were arrested and taken in for processing.

Border Patrol didn’t give information on the age of the suspects, but did say that they’re all adults.
