(KGTV) - The body of an El Cajon woman who was reported missing in Arizona a month ago was found in a rural area outside of Phoenix, authorities said.
Phoenix police announced that body of 19-year-old Kiera Bergman was located Sept. 3 in the West Valley area, near state Route 85 and Hazen Road.
Authorities said the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office recovered Bergman’s body and the Phoenix Police Department has taken over the homicide investigation.
According to authorities, no arrests have been made in the case.
Bergman was last seen on Aug. 4 at her home Phoenix home. Police said she never returned home after leaving that day.
The Valhalla High School graduate had recently moved to the area, friends and family members said.
Phoenix police arrested Bergman's ex-boyfriend while interviewing him about Kiera's disappearance. A search of his car turned up several stolen IDs.
He was arrested and charged with 22 counts of aggravated felony theft and two counts of forgery.
Police have not given any indication that he has any connection to her disappearance. Kiera's family, however, remains suspicious.
"I believe he knows something," said her mother, Kiersten Bragg. "Whether he has done something or he knows what has happened."
Police are asking anyone with any information about her death to call 480-WITNESS.
