MURRIETA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Cassie Fortune Holland is trying desperately to get her daughter Ronni home. The 9-year-old is 1500 miles away - in Iowa - where she spends summers with her Marine father.

Ronni was due home on Tuesday, but a botched flight reservation left her stranded.

The mix-up happened when a Spirit Airlines employee made changes and entered the wrong return date.

Cassie paid extra to have the airline escort her daughter- instead, she was told she needed to pay for another flight

Late Tuesday the airline told the family they will make good on the mistake with a free flight - but Cassie said that a free flight offers little consolation after her daughter was left stranded.

If all goes well Ronni will be home on Wednesday morning.

10News reached out to Spirit Airlines by phone and email to tell them of the problem. The airline has not yet responded.
