100 mph chase comes to crashing end in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Officers reportedly found drugs inside a car that crashed into a building following a high-speed pursuit through Chula Vista early Tuesday morning. 
 
The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of 4th Avenue. According to California Highway Patrol, the incident began when officers attempted to pull over an Audi sedan that was weaving in and out of traffic on southbound Interstate 805 near State Route 54. The Audi refused to stop, and a chase ensued. 
 
The Audi exited at Highland Avenue and turned onto 4th Avenue at speeds of over 100 miles per hour, CHP said. 
 
As the car tried to turn onto Davidson Street, the driver lost control and struck The Chula Vista Civic Center. 
 
The driver was transported to a hospital by ambulance with injuries not believed to be serious. He is expected to face charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants. 
 
Officers reportedly search the car and found drugs inside it, CHP said. 
 
The damage to the building was minor.
