Among the apps being given away,  Angry Birds Space (originally $2.99), Jump Desktop (originally $9.99), to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, 8th Ed. (originally $30.99) to The Muscular System Manual: The Skeletal Muscles of the Human Body (originally $60.99).

There are other free apps, from games to productivity to image editors.

The idea is some people will be giving Amazon or Android devices for Christmas and they can load the free apps  on their new devices. Amazon has also issued discounts on Kindle ebooks, its own devices, and Instant videos, for last-minute shopping.

10News App Also Free

Get a new smartphone or tablet this holiday season? Be sure to download the latest upgraded version of our app to stay in the loop.

Downloading the free 10News app for your Apple or Android device means you’ll be the first to know when news or severe weather happens in the area.

The upgraded 10News app uses background refresh, meaning the latest news will be pre-loaded every time you open the app. The clean new interface features edge-to-edge images, new animations and single-touch video play on articles.

If you’re in a hurry to see the latest news and weather information, the app features links to specific stories directly inside push notifications. This way, our editors can now link a push notification directly to a story for quick access from the notification bar — or even your phone’s lock screen.

Whether you just got a new device recently or simply haven’t yet downloaded the app onto your existing one, check it out to stay connected — it’s free.
