SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Friday, thousands of locals went to the mountains to enjoy the snow. On Sunrise Highway on the way to Mount Laguna, hundreds of vehicles were pulled off along the highway as families went sledding and made snowmen.

“We were concerned that maybe there would be problems with the roads or chains or other issues and traffic jams but it was so smooth. It was unbelievable,” said one visitor.

On Friday morning, Cal Fire tweeted out images of ice-related collisions that its workers responded to in Pine Valley and Descanso. Authorities warn drivers to use caution when driving in icy conditions with the potential for black ice.
