There's plenty to do in San Diego this Halloween season, from visits to pumpkin patches to family friendly celebrations at places like SeaWorld and Legoland.

But if you're looking to get into the true spirit of Halloween, perhaps a visit to one of San Diego's haunted houses is the thing for you.

The Haunted Hotel

If you dare, check into the Haunted Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter -- the longest-running haunted house in San Diego. Considered one of the top haunted houses in the country, the Haunted Hotel has numerous frightening attractions that visitors will have to overcome to make it out with their sanity intact.

During the Halloween season, not everything at Balboa Park is bright and beautiful. Visitors take an outdoor, mile-long journey full of terror and mayhem -- an experience not suitable for kids under 10 or the faint of heart.
