SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Summer is here and it’s time to welcome back Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack.
This season, the races kick off Wednesday, July 17 and last through Monday, September 2.
If you’re planning to head to the races for Opening Day, gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the first race begins at 2 p.m.
Stretch run tickets for Opening Day are $15 and Clubhouse tickets are $30.
For those not interested in the first race of the season, tickets Wednesday through Sunday are $6 for Stretch Run and $10 for Clubhouse. Click here for more information on tickets.
General and early bird parking is $10, and preferred parking is $15. For anyone looking to spend a bit more, valet parking is $25 ($40 on Opening Day) and limo and bus parking is $25 ($100 on Opening Day.
Another memorial part of Opening Day is the hat contest. Entries close for the contest at 3 p.m.
This year, you have the chance to win a share of more than $5,000 is prizes in one of five categories: Best Racing Theme, Most Glamorous, Most Outrageous, Best Fascinator, and Best Flowers.
