Del Mar Racetrack 2019 Summer Concert Series: Ziggy Marley, Chase Rice among scheduled performers

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) – Some popular musicians are on this year’s lineup for the Del Mar Summer Concert Series as the Del Mar Racetrack opens its 80th season.

Opening day for the Del Mar Racetrack is slated for Wednesday, July 17, and the Summer Concert Series will consist of Friday and Saturday performances through Labor Day weekend.

The lineup of free concerts features some well-known country and reggae performers, including:

-- Ziggy Marley: Saturday, July 20
-- Midland: Saturday, July 27
-- Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue: Friday, Aug. 2
-- Iration: Saturday, Aug. 3
-- Chase Rice: Friday, Aug. 16
-- SOJA: Friday, Aug. 23
-- Steel Pulse: Friday, Aug. 30
-- Wayward Sons: Monday, Sept. 2

Racetrack officials said more performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

All concerts at the racetrack are for guests 18 years of age and older and free with the purchase of a standard $6 racetrack ticket. Those looking to attend the concert only, admission is $30.

Concerts will begin after the day’s final race.

In addition to concerts, Del Mar Racetrack officials also announced several culinary, wine and craft beer festivals this summer:

-- Burgers and Brews: Saturday, July 20
-- Uncorked: Del Mar Wine Fest: Saturday, July 27
-- San Diego Taco & Beer Festival: Saturday, Aug. 3
-- Turf & Surf BBQ Championship: Sunday, Aug. 18
-- Taste of New Orleans: Sunday, Sept. 1
