ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A man is dead after falling from the roof of a two-story residence in Escondido.

Police on scene said the man fell off the home's patio roof in the 1400 block of Oak Hill Drive shortly before 2 p.m. Another person was there with the man also working on the home. That person was not nearby when the fall occurred.

It was not clear if the man died at the scene or was transported to a hospital. Emergency medical personnel found the man on the ground with a gash on his head. Crews administered life-saving measures at the scene.

Police said the man appeared to be either an employee of or working with Dewey Pest Control. His identity was not released.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fall. It appears the residence had recently been posted for sale.
