SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An SUV slammed into several parked cars on a Lemon Grove street Wednesday morning, hours after a suspected DUI driver crashed into three parked vehicles on the same road.

The crash involving the SUV happened at about 5:40 a.m. on Palm St. at Dennis Lane.

The driver told 10News he was on his way home from work when he fell asleep at the wheel, causing him to swerve towards parked cars.

He was not seriously injured.

Hours earlier, at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, a car crashed into parked vehicles on Palm St., according to authorities.

Authorities said the driver crashed into the parked vehicles and was trapped in his car until emergency crews responded. Crews were eventually able to remove the door and extracted the unconscious man from the car.

The man was taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Authorities said they believe the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Meanwhile, for Maribel Nava-Cardenas, the late-night crash brought back horrific memories of what happened to her and her family just a few blocks away.

In February, a crash at the intersection of Lemon Grove and Massachusetts avenues left her daughter, her young sister and brother dead.

Nava-Cardenas said the latest crash is more of a reason for drivers to realize the dangers they are causing by speeding. She is also calling for the city to do something about it.

"I'm grieving for my daughter and my sister and my brother still, and I hear this crash … since the accident we have called the city multiple times to have something done because they speed down the street; we have a school that's a block away. I don't know what they're waiting for … for a child to get killed?" said Nava-Cardenas.
