SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Lyft and REI would rather you take a hike this Black Friday.

The ride-sharing service has partnered with the outdoor retailer to get San Diegans outside this Black Friday with "#OptOutside." Lyft is offering one free ride to a San Diego landmark to entice locals to enjoy scenic parks over retail aisles.

The anti-Black Friday deal is good for one for one free ride, up to $10, to any of the following San Diego locations:

  • Cabrillo National Monument
  • Balboa Park
  • Mission Trails Regional Park
  • Presidio Park
  • Chicano Park
  • Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve
  • Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve
  • San Elijo Lagoon
  • San Dieguito County Park
  • Lindo Lake County Park

The offer expires at midnight on Friday.

"#OptOutside resonates with Lyft’s vision of a future where there are more parks—not parking lots—in our cities," Hao Meng, Lyft San Diego market manager, said. "We’re lucky to live in a place where beautiful parks and forested trails are so easily accessible, and we’re thrilled to provide our riders with a way to #OptOutside this Black Friday."

EI has celebrated #OptOutside in the face of the nation's biggest retail holiday since 2015 after the company closed its stores and started paying employees to spend the day outside. Since then, about 7 million people and 700 organizations have joined in the effort to boycott Black Friday by enjoying the outdoors.

The deal is also available in 11 other cities including Portland, San Francisco, and Denver.
