Young girl dies after medical emergency on flight out of Los Angeles airport

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A girl who was a passenger on a flight leaving Los Angeles International Airport died Thursday.

The girl was on a Delta flight bound for Seattle when she suffered a medical emergency, possibly a cardiac arrest, ABC7 reported.

The flight returned to a gate and Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded at 5:53 p.m. They worked aggressively to save her life, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the department's Margaret Stewart and Los Angeles Airport Police.

There are no immediate indications of anything suspicious in connection with her death, according to ABC7.

The Los Angeles Police Department will conduct a death investigation. The cause of death will be determined by the coroner's office, Stewart said.

The girl's age and name were not released. ABC7 reported she appeared to be around 10 years old.
