SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A world champion wrestler from South San Diego will be honored by City Council Tuesday.
The San Diego City Council is proclaiming June 19 Rey Mysterio Day. Mysterio, whose real name is Oscar Gutierrez, is widely regarded as the greatest cruiserweight wrestler of all time.
Mysterio is known for his high-flying Lucha Libre wrestling style. He also named his signature wrestling move the “619,” which is why the ceremony is taking place on June 19.
Mysterio has won several wrestling championships and is known for participating in charity events around San Diego.
