CHULA VISTA -- The Coroner's Office Thursday identified a 38-year-old man who was fatally injured when he fell while installing telecommunication lines on the roof of a two-story commercial building in Chula Vista.
The victim was identified as Matthew Vukasovich of Corona in Riverside County, according to the coroner's office.
None of his co-workers saw Vukasovich go over the side about 1 p.m. Wednesday, said Lt. John Autolino of the Chula Vista Police Department.
10News reported that he worked for Motive Energy and fell about 30 feet while working at a construction site in the 1400 block of Ridgeback Road.
A passerby saw Vukasovich fall from the roof and called 911. Paramedics rushed him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where he died from his injuries at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, according to the coroner's office.
Cal/OSHA will investigate the workplace death.
