SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The wife of a man stabbed in the face after a confrontation at a Solana Beach Rubio's told 10News her husband is doing well following the stabbing.

Maribel Rodriguez said her husband, Robin, is expected to recover from his injuries at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Rodriguez issued the following statement to 10News:

"Rubio's Company is amazing and has truly come together as a family for my husband and all of us. Robin is our hero he went above and beyond to save his team from getting injured. He is stable and expected to recover. Thank you, everyone and the Doctors and wonderful nurses at La Jolla Scripps."

The suspect of the stabbing, identified as 34-year-old Emmanuel Ibarra, was shot and killed by San Diego Sheriff's deputies Monday night in the 3200 block of Camino Del Mar. Witnesses said Ibarra, a homeless transient, got into a fight with the 49-year-old restaurant manager and was ultimately kicked out.

Shortly before 4 p.m., witnesses said Ibarra came back and stabbed Robin in the face multiple times.

When deputies located Ibarra, he was still armed with the knife, according to deputies, culminating in the deputy-involved shooting.

Ibarra was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Rubio's issued a statement Tuesday:
“We are very happy to report that our Team Member is expected to make a full recovery. At the family’s request we are not releasing any personal information. We appreciate the community’s concerns and well wishes, and want to thank the first responders, and our Team Members and guests at the restaurant for their assistance.”
