Torrey Pines High School was ranked 51st in U.S. News & World Report's 2017 list of top California public high schools.
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Torrey Pines High School student was detained Thursday after bringing a fake gun to school, school officials confirmed.
Police were called to the campus just before 10 a.m. after a student said they potentially saw a weapon in a fellow student’s backpack.
The weapon turned out to be an Airsoft weapon and not a real gun, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The weapon was identified and the student removed quickly, so the school did not go on lockdown.
At this time, it’s unknown what grade the student is in.
