Tierrasanta Driver: BB shot shattered window "inches" from head

Posted

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A drive turned scary last week for a local woman just blocks from her home in Tierrasanta.

Around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, Marci Jubelirer was driving her new car home on Portobelo Dr. when someone fired shots at her.

"I was going over a third speed bump, which means I was going pretty slow.  All of a sudden I heard what sounded like a pop.  It sounded like fireworks, and the next thing was an intense, really intense sound of shattering," said Jubelirer.

She looked outside and didn't see much through the darkness. "I looked back, and the back was filled with glass.  There was glass in my hair, and I just kinda froze," said Jubelirer.

Jubelirer drove the last six blocks to her house in shock before calling the police.

She told 10News most of the glass was gone, the pieces either in the back of her Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or on the street.

Jubelirer said when the officer looked at the pattern of glass both inside and outside the car, he came to a quick conclusion: a BB shot.

The theory was backed by her mechanic, who didn't think the glass shattered by itself.
