(KGTV) - Tens of thousands of acres have been scorched by multiple fires burning throughout the Northern California area.

According to fire authorities, at least 31 people have died and more than 400 are missing from the fires raging across the state. More than 2,000 homes and businesses have also been burned or damaged.

About 22 fires are burning across the northern half of the state, with nearly 8,000 firefighters deployed to battle the blazes.

The Red Cross has a website where residents can mark themselves safe and relatives can search for their loved ones.

Here is a look at the major fires burning in California and the latest information on each (Friday, 11:40 a.m. PST):

Canyon Fire 2:

  • Located at Highway 91 and Gypsum Canyon Rd., Anaheim City.
  • 9,217 acres burned.
  • 65 percent contained; full containment expected by 10/14.
  • All evacuation orders and road closures were lifted by Wednesday afternoon.

Cherokee Fire

  • Located Cherokee Rd. and Zonalea Lane, Oroville (Butte County)
  • 8,417 acres burned.
  • 70 percent contained.
  • Cherokee Rd has been downgraded to an Evacuation Warning. All other orders and warnings have been lifted.
