CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Students at Coronado High School were scrambling to find prom tickets just days before the dance.
This year prom is on a boat cruise called the Bahia Belle. The school sent out an email to parents telling them the event was sold out, leaving some juniors and seniors without a ticket.
To fix the problem, students were given the chance to give up their ticket, without getting a refund.
The school emailed parents telling them they’d be reducing the number of chaperones to make room for the teens on the wait list. Late Friday afternoon, the school told 10News that was just an option they were considering.
The school principal also told 10News they made arrangements with the Bahia Belle to allow all the students who were previously waitlisted.
The Bahia Belle tells 10News there will be about 475 students and chaperones on the boat, plus staff. The prom is Saturday.
