What began as a domestic violence call to the Park Haven Apartments on Camino de la Plaza, across the street from Las Americas Outlets mall, at 4:13 a.m. escalated when 25-year-old Nicholas Schaffer refused to come out of the apartment.
Police evacuated the apartment complex and shut down parts of the street and Willow Road.

Earlier media reports indicated that Schaffer was holed up inside the apartment alone but Zimmerman announced a "baby" was unharmed inside the apartment. The child was a 17-month-old girl.
A loaded firearm was also recovered.
