SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A suspicious incident that took place near a San Diego middle school this week has school officials and parents on alert.
A student who attends STEAM Academy at La Presa Middle School was reportedly approached inappropriately Thursday at about 8:50 a.m. by two male strangers while walking to school, the school confirmed.
The student said the strangers made comments about how the student was dressed and followed her from the Spring Valley Branch Library, near Kempton Street Elementary School, toward campus. It's not clear, though, if the men followed her all the way to campus.
The men were described as both in their 30s, with dark, combed-over hair and facial hair. One of the men has a bleached blonde streak on the top of his head. They were last seen driving a black, 4-door sedan with black passenger windows and a heavily tinted rear window.
San Diego Sheriff's Department is currently investigating the report.
In a letter to parents, the school warned to remind children to remain alert, walk in groups, and report any suspicious behavior.
"As a safety precaution, no child should ever walk to and from school alone. There is safety in numbers," the letter said.
