Sheriff's deputies: Suspicious men asked children to 'get in' vehicle

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Authorities are asking North County parents and children to be on the lookout after a suspicious incident in Solana Beach.

A 13-year-old boy was walking home from Earl Warren Middle School at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 when two suspects in a vehicle stopped nearby, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO.)

The passenger in the vehicle reportedly asked, "Hey kid, you wanna get in?" SDSO said. The boy ignored the men and continued walking but heard the suspects ask the same question to other children nearby.

The boy didn't notice any children approach the suspects and the two men didn't exit the vehicle, SDSO said.

The suspects were described as:

  • White male in his late 20s, with brown curly hair and wearing sunglasses.
  • White male in his early 30s and bald.

The men were in a newer model, blue, Chevrolet sedan, with dirty license plates. SDSO is asking parents and school officials to remind their children and students of the proper way to handle a similar situation and remain vigilant.

Anyone with information is asked to call SDSO at 858-565-5200.
