Man with Alzheimer's found safe

Authorities said a missing elderly man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and other health problems was found safe on Tuesday around 4 p.m. at the back gate of Camp Pendleton in Oceanside.

Toshio Akita, 87, was last seen at around 2 a.m. Tuesday at his Vista home, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said it was important Akita be found as soon as possible because he did not have his medications with him.

Military police found Akita trying to access Camp Pendleton at the San Luis Rey Gate.

He will be reunited with his family.
