San Diego State receives record number of undergraduate applications

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A record number of high school graduates and transfer students applied to San Diego State University this past fall.

The school received 93,610 undergraduate applications for fall 2018 academic year.

SDSU also received more than 3,000 graduate applications, bringing the fall 2018 total for applications to more than 96,000.

"This robust interest in SDSU reflects the excellence of our academic and research programs and our national reputation," SDSU President Sally Roush said in a release.

Of the applications received for fall 2018, 68,475 were from first-time freshmen and 25,135 were from transfer students. The most popular majors by first-time freshmen included biology, business, nursing, and psychology.

Applicants will be notified of whether they have been accepted in March 2018.
