UPDATE: San Diego Police find missing woman last heard from heading home

UPDATE (2:30 p.m. PST): San Diego Police say they have safely located Denise Dutcher. Original story follows.


SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for a San Diego woman whose family says was last heard from on her way home.

Denise Dutcher, 88, contacted her family Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. to say she was heading home but said she was lost and would try to find another way. Dutcher never made it home though, San Diego Police said.

Dutcher's family said she has never been missing and was displaying early signs of dementia. It was also discovered she was traveling southbound toward Mexico, police said, the opposite direction from her home.

Dutcher is described as a Hispanic woman, 5-foot-4, weighing 120 pounds, and with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen driving a 2003 Honda Accord with license plate number 5ECR003.
