San Diego motorcycle club's holiday tradition goes on despite fire

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A South Bay biker club is all systems go with their holiday tradition of giving, despite suffering a clubhouse fire that destroyed many of their tools and supplies.

The San Diego chapter of Boozefighters Motorcycle Club has donated bicycles and toys for more than 40 years to children in need.

The group's Clairemont clubhouse burned down earlier this year, destroying many of the group's tools and supplies they use to assemble bikes for their annual Christmas With Kids giveaway.

The group gives away bike on Christmas morning in a lottery at the National City home of Charlene King - where she and her husband, Frank, began the tradition years ago.

Members have been working out of a Pacific Beach storage room to prepare for the event. Despite the blaze, the group said they are ready to continue the event and they have at least 170 bikes ready to go already.

While there are not enough bikes to go around for everyone who shows up for the drawing, the group tries to make sure every child goes home with some by giving away toys as well.
