One person died and three others were taken to local hospitals after an early-morning, single car rollover in Chula Vista, police said.
The rollover was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of East H Street.
When officers arrived, they found the adult male driver had already died. His three passengers were in stable condition after being taken to nearby trauma centers.
Witnesses told police that they saw the car speeding west on East H Street, east of Del Rey Boulevard, when it veered across the center median, rolled over and came to a rest upside down on the south sidewalk.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
The road was closed until about 11 a.m., some 10 hours after the incident. Chula Vista Police Traffic Division officers investigated the rollover crash.
