RANCHO PENASQUITOS, Calif. (KGTV) — A popular playground at Hilltop Park has been roped off for weeks, and residents are wondering why it's taken the city so long to fix.
“My first reaction when we pulled into the parking lot was, oh no, what is that all about,” said Rancho Penasquitos resident, Kelly Hall.
She said she takes her grandson, Braden, 3, to the park every week.
“It’s a wonderful and lovely park, but this is an eyesore,” said Hall.
The playground’s bridge has been roped off with yellow caution tape for several weeks.
The City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department posted a sign, which said, ‘The area is closed off for the safety of the public while we take the time to make necessary repairs.’
Hall said she’s wondering why it’s taken so long to fix. She said with summer coming up, the broken playground will deter people from coming to the area.
“This park is used by so many people in the community,” said Hall.
