RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - An East County teacher is under investigation following accusations of harassment and bullying.
After 10News was tipped off by a concerned resident, the Ramona Unified School District and San Diego Sheriff's confirmed that a Ramona High School teacher is under investigation. The district has not yet notified parents of the allegations.
The Sheriff's Department said the investigation is still in its early stages and there is no evidence as of now that a crime occurred.
In a statement to 10News, Ramona Unified Assistant Superintendent Joel Garcia wrote:
"The Ramona Unified School District received a complaint involving allegations of harassment and bullying. As with any complaint, we are following the proper protocols and procedures to thoroughly investigate the matter."
Details of the reported harassment or who may have been victimized were not disclosed. The teacher's identity was not released.
SDSO Media Relations Director Ryan Keim told 10News in a statement the department is "aware of the incident and is partnering with the Ramona Unified School District to conduct a thorough investigation."
