Police searching for suspect who shot pedestrian in Oceanside

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding a suspect wanted in connection with attempted murder in Oceanside.

On March 22, police say the suspect fired five or six gunshots in the alley near the 300 block of Brooks Street just after midnight.

According to police, the suspect fired the shots into the air over Interstate 5. One of the bullets flew over the road and hit a pedestrian who was walking at Ron Ortega Park.

The victim was found on the ground an hour later by a passerby and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police say a second bullet hit the roof of a granny flat. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4900 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Crime stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
