Police swarmed a quiet Hillcrest neighborhood Monday morning, catching five burglars mid-action.

More than a dozen patrol cars and a helicopter flew overhead.

Police told 10News, the five suspects drove into the 3400 block of Richmond and Upas Street. The group entered the home wearing hoodies and gloves. They attempted to steal five laptops, a jewelry box, a camera and two gym bags.

Jason Pagelow and his roommates were not home when the intruders broke in. “There was a helicopter and more cop cars than could be counted,” said Pagelow.

Police got the call from a next door neighbor. They received the call at 10 am, and 13 minutes later- officers had placed the suspects in handcuffs.

One adult and four juveniles were taken into custody.

Pagelow and his roommate, Christopher Slahta said it was their neighbor’s quick thinking that prevented the burglars from escaping.

“I could have been in a completely different situation if my neighbors wouldn't have been able to give that call,” said Pagelow.
