SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A man died Saturday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while jaywalking across a San Marcos road.

San Diego County Sheriff's said the 30-year-old victim was hit while crossing midblock on South Santa Fe Avenue near West Mission Avenue just before 5 a.m. The driver, a 52-year-old woman, came to a stop a short distance away and stayed at the scene, SDSO said.

Emergency crews arrived and transported the man to Palomar Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Deputies said alcohol does not appear to be a factor. San Marcos Traffic Division officers are currently investigating the collision.

The driver and victim have not been identified.
