CHULA VISTA – A driver sheared a water pipe in Chula Vista early Wednesday morning, sending a steady stream of water gushing into the air.
The crash occurred before 4:45 a.m. in the 4400 block of Main Street, off Interstate 805. The driver lost control of his Nissan Rogue, sheared a 10-inch water pipe and landed upside down on his roof. He was not seriously hurt.
The water was flowing into the parking lot of a Best Western Chula Vista Inn. The water was still flowing freely as of 5:40 a.m. The hotel itself had not flooded.
Otay Water District crews were responding to the scene.
