OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Police announced they have arrested a local transient for the murder of an Oceanside man last month.

Oceanside Police said Ian Dewey Spencer, 21, was arrested on May 1 in the death of 73-year-old Donald Ross on April 18.

Police said Spencer is a local transient who often spent the night at Ross' apartment. No other information was made available.

Ross was found unresponsive on his bedroom floor in the 300 block of South Myer's Street just before 9 a.m. on April 18. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crimes of Violence detectives soon ruled the death a homicide.

Spencer was charged with murder upon his arrest.
