RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A 38-year-old motorcyclist killed in Rancho Bernardo Friday night has been identified by the county.

Brian Jones died after losing control of his motorcycle just after 9 p.m. in the 18600 block of Caminito Cantilena, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner. Jones, who was not wearing a helmet, failed to maneuver a turn within a gated community.

He first struck a curb, causing him to lose control, and then traveled across a landscape area and hit a fire hydrant. The force of striking the hydrant ejected him from his motorcycle into a parked vehicle, the Medical Examiner said.

It's unknown how fast he was traveling.

Residents called paramedics, who found Jones lying motionless in the street. Paramedics performed life-saving measures before transporting him to a nearby hospital and continuing those efforts.

He was later pronounced dead.
