SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A mother is talking for the first time about waking up to find a stranger in her living room.

On Monday morning, around 7 a.m., as Shelly and her two toddlers slept at their home off North Mountain View, their dog Molly started barking.

As Shelly opened her bedroom door to let the dog out, she says she saw him: a thin homeless man in his 40s, staring at her.

Shelly says when she told him to leave, he grabbed his backpack stuffed with clothes from the house and left.

She tells us the number of homeless has increased noticeably in her neighborhood in the past six months.
