INDUSTRY, Calif. -- A mother used quick thinking and a taco to distract a man accused of impersonating an officer who was reportedly harassing her family.

According to KTLA, the family of six, two parents and their four children, stopped on the 13400 block of Valley Boulevard in Industry to get food Sunday.

While eating, the man approached the family’s van and began to terrorize the family, even showing them a concealed gun in his waist band and flashing a badge.

Fearing for their safety, the mother offered the man one of the family’s street taco’s and told him she needed to go back to the food truck to get him some napkins.

After walking to the food truck, the woman told a customer in line what was happening before the two called authorities.

After deputies arrived, the man reportedly tried to throw the gun into the family’s fan and get inside the vehicle before he was taken into custody.

The suspect, Juan Rodriguez, 38, was booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment, impersonating a peace officer and outstanding warrants.
