SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An activist with a San Diego-based immigration rights group has been located safe after he went missing in Mexico almost a week ago.

Castro was found Tuesday in Mexico, according to Enrique Morones with the local non-profit organization Border Angels, which advocates for immigrant rights.

"Hugo Castro of Border Angels found alive! Currently in Mexico City...Thanks to all for prayers and support," an email from Morones read.

Castro's partner, Gaba Cortes, also confirmed the discovery.

"We are grateful to those who participated," Cortes wrote in a Facebook post.

Hugo was declared missing Thursday, following a Facebook Live video in which he claimed he was being "hunted" by "criminals." Castro was seen asking viewers for help and walking on the shoulder of a highway in Puebla, outside Mexico City, during the 20-minute video.

In the video seen below, he claimed the criminals were from Tamaulipas and had been following him for days.
