Metro PCS store robbed in College Area

Robbery is fifth such incident in last two weeks

SAN DIEGO - San Diego police are looking for the man they believe may be behind five Metro PCS store robberies in the past two weeks.The latest robbery happened Wednesday afternoon, at the store on El Cajon Boulevard.

Investigators say a Hispanic man walked into the store with a semiautomatic handgun and demanded cash and cell phones from the two people inside the store - one employee and one customer. Then, he told them to stay in the back until he left.

Officers have no idea how the robber got away or if there was an accomplice in a getaway car. The gunman is about 5-foot-six and between 125 to 140 pounds, has a heavy accent, and is in his late 20's, according to investigators. He was last seen wearing a green hooded jacket, red scarf, and red shoes.

This is the fifth Metro PCS store to be robbed in the last weeks.The latest one, just one day ago on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Investigators believe they may all be connected.

The first store to be robbed was also on El Cajon Boulevard. The next one, on Adams Avenue. Surveillance video in this robbery shows a second robber. The third heist happened on Coronado Avenue in Egger Highlands.
