MAP: San Diego Pride 2018 parade, parking, road closures

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Pride continues Saturday with an annual parade and festival in Hillcrest, bringing out locals in support of the LGBTQ community.

The event also brings road closures throughout Hillcrest during the festivities. We've put together some parking and transportation options for those planning to head down to know about.

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

ROAD CLOSURES

Numerous road closures will be in place during the parade.

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., the following streets will be closed: 

  • Centre St. (from University Ave. to Park Blvd.)
  • Lincoln Ave. (from Cleveland Ave. to Park Blvd.)
  • Normal St. (from University Ave. to Washington Ave.)
  • Harvey Milk St. (from Cleveland Ave. to Centre St.)

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the following streets will be closed:

  • University Ave. (from 6th Ave. to Park Blvd.)
  • Evans Place. (from 5th Ave. to 6th Ave.)
  • 6th Ave. (from Upas St. to University Ave.)
  • Pennsylvania Ave. (from 5th Ave. to 6th Ave.)
  • Balboa Drive in Balboa Park
  • Brookes Ave. (from 5th Ave. to 6th Ave.)
  • Robinson Ave. (from 5th Ave. to 6th Ave.)
  • Ivy Lane (from 5th Ave. to 6th Ave.)

These streets will be strictly no parking zones, with the addition of Polk Ave., from Normal St. to Park Blvd.


PARKING

Free parking and a shuttle will be available at Old Naval Hospital at Park Blvd. and President’s Way on Saturday and Sunday. Shuttles will run to the parade from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., dropping riders off at Essex and Richmond streets, one block south of University Ave. The shuttle will also run to the festival from 8 a.m. to midnight, dropping riders off at Sixth Ave. and Juniper St.

Another express shuttle will give parade watchers a lift to the festival, picking up at Essex and Richmond streets and dropping off at Sixth Ave. and Juniper St. from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

ADA Accessible vans are also available on call at any shuttle stop on Saturday from 8 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., just contact a Pride volunteer at the stop.

Paid parking will be available at Roosevelt Middle School and Birney Elementary School.

Anyone looking to safely store their bicycle can do so at the festival bike corral along Sixth Ave.
