SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man riding a jet ski off Fiesta Island was critically injured after falling from a jet ski Wednesday.
The man was on a jet ski when he hit a wave and fell off, hitting his head when he landed, according to San Diego Lifeguards.
A person on the beach saw the man fall and called 911, lifeguards said. Lifeguard boats arrived on scene with a paramedic on board — paramedics are on board just for the July 4 holiday.
"Fortunately the lifeguard boat was right there with two medics, fire department medics on board," said Lifeguard Lieutenant John Sandmeyer. "They loaded him onto the boat, initiated CPR right away and were also able to use the AED."
The man was taken to UCSD Medical Center, reportedly in critical condition. No further information was immediately available.
