NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) - Police are searching for two suspects they say struck a man in the face with a gun while he was smoking pot in his car.
A man, 20, was sitting in his vehicle Wednesday smoking marijuana at El Toyon Park when he was approached by two men, National City Police said. The two men asked if they could smoke with the man.
Police said one of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to the vehicle. Believing the gun was fake, the man tried to fight off the suspects but was struck in the face with the gun.
The blow left two large lacerations on the man's face. A friend transported him to Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista, where he received 11 stitches. Police said the man was hesitant to cooperate with the investigating officer.
The two suspects fled the scene after striking the man.
One suspect was described as a black male between 20 and 25 years old, wearing dark clothing. the other suspect was described as a white male of similar age, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
The men are wanted for assault with a deadly weapon and attempted carjacking.
