NATIONAL CITY, Calif. - A suspect has been arrested in the death of an elderly National City woman, National City police announced.
On Thursday morning, National City police arrested Peter Thao without incident outside of his San Diego home in connection with the death of 92-year-old Maria Rivera.
On the morning of Oct. 22, a woman called National City police after finding her mother deceased in their home in the 1000 block of D Avenue.
"Upon further investigation at the scene, Officers located evidence indicating the residence was burglarized at some point prior to the discovery of Ms. Rivera by her daughter," police said in a statement.
Thao will be booked into San Diego County Jail on murder charges, police said.
Police said: "We do not believe there are any other outstanding suspects. This investigation is still active and ongoing. At this time, we will not be able to comment on what evidence linked Peter Thao to the murder of Ms. Rivera."
